CareXM began with a dilemma. A chemotherapy patient was receiving treatment at home when his nurse’s work phone rang. The nurse instantly found herself in an uncomfortable situation: Do I continue assisting this patient or answer the call, knowing it may be urgent?
The patient saw her expression change to one of worry, concern, and anxiety. She would end up taking the call and returning to complete her duties, but the patient couldn’t help but believe there was a way to prevent situations like this. He considered his own background in call routing and how it could help this nurse from having to juggle multiple responsibilities.
“What if a mobile app could alert her team of incoming calls and forward them to available nurses? What if she could do her job with the peace of mind that her other patients’ immediate needs were being met?”
This experience inspired the patient to begin working with a team of nurses that specialized in home-based care to understand the similar hurdles they have to navigate daily. Their partnership and expertise would lead to the creation of CareXM, the leader in clinical triage and virtual care coordination.
